What's New in Version 2.0?
Here are some of the new features in Case Complete version 2.0:
|
|
1. Custom fields
Need to add priority to your packages? An email address to your use cases? An "experience
level" to your actors? Now you can with custom fields. Easily define custom
fields for use cases, actors and packages, including the name, category, default
values and suggested values for each custom field. Export/import custom field
configurations for use in multiple projects. Want the complete set of
Alistair Cockburn's fields mentioned in his book, Writing Effective Use
Cases? Import them from the Templates directory of your Case Complete
installation folder.
2. Spell checking
"As you type" spell checking, including spelling suggestions and custom dictionary.
For example:

3. Properties window
A new properties window allows you to change values for use cases, actors and
packages from the main screen. Select more than one item to set values for
all selected items at the same time. In this example, filling in a value for preconditions
would apply to both selected use cases ("Schedule appointment" and "View daily schedule"):

4. Ordering
Change the order of your packages, use cases, and actors by using arrow buttons
in the model browser. Renumber your Actor and Use Case ID's to
match the model browser order in one easy operation.

5. Model Browser ordering for reports
New reports (both HTML and Word formats) allow you to display your items in the
same order they appear in the model browser, including a hyperlinked table of
contents for both formats.
6. Easier printing
Now the selected item(s) can be printed with the click of a button on the main tool
bar, or directly from the item details forms.
7. Auto display images in Word reports
Do you document screen layout using Visio or other tools? Or have other related
images to display with your items? Now Case Complete automatically display those
images in generated Word reports when they are added as related documents.
In this example, we see a portion of Case Complete on the left and a portion of
the generate Word report on the right:

8. "Anytime" extensions
Now you can add extensions to your flow of events that can occur at any time during
the flow. These extensions are denoted with an asterisk. For example:
*.a. Server response times out
1. Initiate reset sequence
9. "Continue At" auto numbering
Extensions that include instructions indicating which step to resume at will now
get auto-numbered when the referenced step changes. In this example we see
a snippet from the extensions section of a use case. If at this point you
add a new step immediately after step 1, the referenced step numbers will automatically
change to 5 and 3.1, respectively:
...
3.a. User enters invalid password
1. System allows user to try again
2. if valid continue at step 4
3. after 3rd try go to 2.1
10. Multi-select for steps and extensions
Now you can select multiple steps or multiple extensions allowing you to delete
them or copy them to a new use case. "Smart Paste" will paste associated extensions
for copied steps.
11. Enhanced exporting
Case Complete exports more data to UML tools. Tight integrations with tools such
as Visual UML ®
and Estimate Easy UC, means
you can do even more with your Use Case data.
